This collection contains items related to the Karl E. Anderson family. The bulk of this collection are Karl Anderson's diaries which are dated 1897-1905, 1914-1915, 1924, 1926-1927, and 1929-1934. The diaries contain information about his daily experiences and religious observations. Other records include sermons and writings which are in outline format (undated), notes from which Anderson preached (undated), and a poem (undated). There are also several biographical materials (1931-1970) in this collection. Dorothea Anderson's materials of creative writings (undated) are located in a single folder. These items are mostly plays and articles on Indian mission subjects.

There is also a folder of letters and articles (1933- 1945) by or about Bishop William F. Oldham. This includes correspondence from Oldham and a copy of his funeral service bulletin. Oldham was the subject of a 3,000 word biography written by Emma Anderson. Helen Rieger Emmerson has a manuscript (1970) on the history of the Lisbon, Iowa, United Methodist Church. This piece covers the time period when Anderson pastored the church. In addition there are two photographs: one of the General Committee of the Foreign Mission Board from November 1913, and a second picture of the General Executive Committee of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society in October 1923. The two artifacts in this collection include a Bidar metal vase (undated) with a copy of a legend and a woven straw tray (undated).

The John Samuel Stamm Collection is comprised of two series. In the first series there are three typed manucript volumes which include lectures, Bible studies, and orientation messages delivered to Evangelical Seminary students in 1955. Other bound manuscript volumes include a commentary on I Thessalonians; an autobiobraphy; two volumes of sermons; letters of appreciation on the occasion of Stamm's retirement as well as a volume of Remembrances; and a history of the proceedings in the union of the Church of the United Brethren and the Evangelical Church. The second series is comprised of two scrapbooks containing clippings, articles, and expressions of appreciation at the time of his death.

The collection contains mostly letters, some publications, artifacts, photographs, and personal documents (1903-1913). The letters cover all phases of their lives in Rangoon and are addressed primarily to " the folks at home," which makes them both personal and informative. There is some later correspondence dated 1951 to 1964 between Graves and persons he knew in Burma. The collection contains original letters as well as photocopies.

The records contain the transcripts of public addresses given by Methodist bishops, ministers and missionaries as well as U.S. public officials from the armed forces and the office of the President. Additional voices included representatives from the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, the National Woman’s Party and the Young Women’s Christian Association. Prominent speakers include I. Garland Penn, James Cannon, William Oldham, Charles A. Tindley, Anna Gordon, Clarence True Wilson, Robert E. Jones, Lena L. Fisher, and John R. Mott. Additional voices included William Howard Taft, Alice Paul, William Jennings Bryan, William B. McAdoo, Alvin York and Josephus Daniels.

The Official Reports and Records bound volume traces the history of the Centenary Exposition from its conception, planning and implementation. Here we see not only reports but also the various schedules for each day with its focused emphasis. Images document the many programs, grounds maps, specific representative groups and theatrical productions such as the Wayfarer pageant. Each descriptive entry is authored by different individuals.

The Centenary Surveys was published by the Joint Centenary Committee through the Board of Home Missions and Church Extension of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1918. There is extensive statistical information related to the various work by the board. Topics include mission work to various ethnicity groups and geographic areas along with associated maps, financial data and various other important numeric tabulations.

Record types include: oral history, manuscript, deposition, extract, correspondence, article, legal papers, newspaper, publications, post card, and police record. This collection deals with the background and events leading up to the confrontation between Ingerslew and then Bishop Anton Bast. Also included are documents supporting Ingerslew and a transcription of an oral history from the Ingerslew family in 1975. Also contained in this collection are documents used to support John Ingerslew's case for pension and recognition of his years served in Denmark.

These study papers on various topics related to religion and homosexuality were collected by the Committee to Study Homosexuality. There are no minutes of the committee or other administrative records.

Bishop Sparks correspondence concerns Sierra Leone from 1966 until 1973. The oral history interview was conducted as part of the Center for the Study of Evangelical United Brethren History, Oral History Program. This program was part of the EUB Heritage Project. The interview was conducted by John R. Knecht on February 21, 1981, in Sacramento, California. There is one cassette tape with this interview as well as a twenty-one page typed transcript.

This material contains correspondence, legislation, minutes, working texts and study documents used by the 1960s era Commission on Worship. There are sample liturgies from the 1980s era Commission on Worship as well. The amount of material was so small that it was decided to combine the two groups together.

The largest element of the collection consists of Methodist newspapers from Estonia, Latvia and Russia. The time span for these periodicals range from 1909 to 1940. Here the researcher will find a written record of the church's main activities in these specific geographic areas. Many of the periodicals are not in English but their native tongues. There are, however, some English language documents with the most important being the index for the Russian Christian Advocate. General administration records are the next section within the collection. Various minutes make up the bulk of these records. Other documents include histories of the areas, one local church set of records, an Estonian Book of Discipline (1927), and other ephemera. One of the unique aspects of this collection is Bishop Nuelsen's records while serving as bishop for the Baltic-Russia area. These records were separated out from the general administrative records in order to highlight Nuelsen's work for these annual conferences during the turbulent times they both found themselves in. Most of the documents found here are photocopies. The orginal records can be found at various institutions in the Russian-Baltic region.

Kawata's work as a missionary, scientist, scholar, and humanitarian are reflected in this collection. Correspondence, photographs, legal papers, and reports on community improvement projects make up the series on his early life in schools, Japanese-American internment camps, and the mission field in India. Correspondence, academic papers, and published articles and monographs represent his university and publishing life. The publications series also contains articles by Kawata on such topics as the internment camps, prejudice in South Africa, and the U.S. military.
