      History

The National Consultation on Equitable Salaries began in 1973 in response to a mandate in the United Methodist Church Discipline for a study of equitable salaries in the annual conference. At the time there was no mechanism within any general agency to conduct such work or monitoring. Several annual conference treasurers worked together to start the Consultation. The Consultation later liasoned with the Division of Ordained Ministry and would later reorganize into the National Association of Commissions on Equitable Salaries.
